Design of Storm water drainage in the 16 settlements in Tripoli Region of Libya

Each settlement offered a different challenge. Many did not have any natural drainage channel outside the settlement for canalizing the final flow. In these cases TTI designed a number of localized reservoirs to receive the storm flows from different zones in the settlement. The reservoirs were ponds with bunds raised above ground level for their protection.

In some of the coastal settlements the storm water was drained to wadis eventually flowing into the sea.

The storm drains were all piped drains. The preferred pipe materials were uPVC and GRP.A total of 314 km of piped network was designed for all the 16 settlements together with 123 reservoirs.

The total project cost for the storm water drainage components was US$ 102.00
